The high-stakes battle between two casino titans over the Las Vegas of the East Coast. It's all quiet now on the eastern front of the American gaming industry - Atlantic City, New Jersey - but for five chaotic years, real estate developer Richard "Skip" Bronson was at the white-hot center of a titanic clash of money and power that transformed Atlantic City from a struggling day-tripper place with buses in and out to a born again destination drawing tourists from New York, Philadelphia, and other major cities along the eastern seaboard. From 1995 to 2000, two of the world's best-known companies - Mirage Resorts and Trump Resorts - run by two of the most flamboyant businessmen of our time, fought a bare-knuckled, high-stakes battle over a prime piece of real estate in one of America's most famous resort towns. No money was spared, no punch was pulled, no invective went unhurled in The War at the Shore. Now Bronson, who was a member of the board of directors of Mirage and president of New City Development Company, the Mirage subsidiary whose primary purpose was to build a top-level new casino and hotel complex in Atlantic City, tells the inside story of this epic struggle. Along the way, Bronson weaves in fascinating and inspiring anecdotes from his complicated past: A product of a fractured family and city-owned housing project in Hartford, Connecticut; former paperboy, spelling bee champion yet college dropout; and prolific developer of shopping centers and office buildings-including CityPlace, Connecticut's tallest skyscraper-Bronson embodies the self-made business success story. Gripping from beginning to end, The War at the Shore is a rare up-close look at the world of casino development and the essential modern chapter in the history of America's "Boardwalk Empire". 1. Inspired by seafront Hotel du Palais in Biarritz, France, the hotel and neighboring Central Casino remain architectural landmarks of the city of Mar del Plata as well as of Argentina. Surrounded by an esplanade built by the provincial government with the future hotal in mind in 1938 and facing Bristol Beach, the lobby featured murals painted by César Bustillo (the architect's son) and its decoration was planned by famed French designer Jean-Michel Frank (who was in Argentina at work on the Llao Llao Hotel) together with Casa Comte. The 500-room establishment opened in 1948 and was long the largest in Argentina, the neighboring Central Casino was the largest in the world by floor space until the 1990 opening of Trump Taj Mahal Casino Resort, in Atlantic City.

Raffles Resort Canouan Island is a luxury hotel owned by the international hotel chain known as Raffles Hotels and Resorts and is one of two resorts on the Caribbean island of Canouan (though a third is on the way). The resort is set on 300 acres (1.2 km2) of a 1,200-acre (4.9 km2) private estate that includes three secluded beaches that are surrounded by one of the world's largest coral reefs. Raffles Canouan actually occupies a 1/3 of the island that was previously uninhabited. Raffles Resort Canouan Island is situated on a hill that overlooks the northern Grenadines and is home to the Trump Club Privee, a European styled casino as well as La Varenne a European Gourmet restaurant and a ballroom. The resort has received praise from BRIDE's Magazine, Condé Nast Traveler, Robb Report, and has been nominated for 3 World Travel Awards. One of the biggest attractions on the island that is a part of the resort is Trump International Golf Club, an 18 hole championship golf course that spans the island. This golf club was declared the best Golf club in 2005 by Robb Report and presents a fairly unique golfing experience on the tiny island.
